Lina Manousogiannaki
BIO
Lina Manousogiannaki (1976)
lives and works between Brussels and the Sfakia region on the island of Crete, Greece.
After completing a Masters degree in archaeology, in the University of Crete,
she concentrated on her artistic practice as a photographer.
First as a self-taught photographer and later,
through her studies
in the
Academie de Dessin et des Arts Visuels in Molenbeek, Brussels.
During a two year residency in the Museum of Tapestry
and Weaving in Tournai, Belgium, she expanded
her field of interests into a more plastic approach of photography.
In 2022 she collaborated on the project To touch at the edge, with a group of Balkan artists, on the theme of borders. For that collaboration she created a series of solarised images under the title For a Place in the Sun.
The outcome of this collaboration was published in a collective book in 2023, and was presented in a group exhibition in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In the summer of 2023 she was a resident artist in the Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico, USA. The theme of the residency was Changing Climate and she worked on a dummy for her first photobook La Main Verte, soon to appear.
Recently, she has been creating a series of collage images.
She has participated in a variety of national and international exhibitions.
Her work has been published in several art, as well as scientific reviews.
